Dharma service is gathering of buddhists and non-buddhists which usually consist of religious ritual and activities such as reciting of Buddhist sutra recitation, listening to Dharma talks, praising and prostrating to the Buddha and bodhisattva, making repentance to the Buddha and bodhisattva, making offerings to the Buddhas, Dharma and Sangha, and others. Through whole-heartedly reciting of sutras and prayer, the Buddhists can learn the way to lead themselves out of their worldly worries, freed themselves from their constant seeking of worldly desires, aware of the impermanence of phenomena, so as to lead a peaceful life which is in rhythm of the environment.  essence of and making sincere offerings and donations, the buddhist can receive blessings bestowed upon by the Buddhas and Bodhisattvas, thereby accumulate benefits for their current and future lives in the cycle of rebirth. the Buddhists can learn and put into practice the lesson imparted by the Shakyamuni Buddha.  sincerely learn from the Buddha and pray for the blessings of the compassionate Buddhas and Bodhisattvas.

The meaning of “Dharma service” is “Meeting in the Dharma.”  Hence, the Dharma talk is essential at the Dharma service. A Dharma service aims to enhance the devotee’s confidence and joy in the Buddha Dharma.
