Cause and effect

We always talk about cause and effect, but I believe most people do not understand the real meaning behind it.  A lot of people believe in Buddhism because they need the Buddha to answer their prayers rather than having the desire to better themselves or to seek the truth.

As a result, many people who have studied Buddhism for many years neither change their life for the better nor see much improvement in their Buddhist practice.  They believe that Buddhism hasn’t given them much blessings or their practice has slackened.

However, the main reason is they didn’t change their mindset.  There are people who will studiously chant a lot of sutras or incantations and have the ability to explain Buddhist concept well.  However, they would easily get frustrated over small matters.  This is the result of not living in accordance with the law (or Buddhist concept).  Clearly, it also mean that one hasn’t really understand the law of cause and effect.

If you understand the unwavering and the strictness of the law of cause and effect, one will absolutely not haphazardly get frustrated or worries.  Actually, if you were to observe keenly, you will realize that when frustration arises, you are going against the natural stream of fate.  This is the power of the law of cause and effect – the call of your heart.

This bad karma will not only manifest in the future, but also in the current moment.  Because of our ignorance, we never realize it.  Many people learn Buddhism for many years and practice different sutras, but their life didn’t improve.  It clearly implies that their attitude didn’t change.  If their attitude changes, their environment will definitely change.  This is a strict law and will not deviate.

So, don’t blame that you have not been blessed by your buddhist practice and don’t push the blame to your past karma (effects of your past causes).  The present karma (effects) is caused by your current attitude.  By taking a look at your current situation, you will be able to see whether your heart is showing real compassion or putting an act of showing compassion.

If your daily life and (buddhist) practice are in a mess, be resolute to repent and do real compassionate act.  This is the only easy way to change your fate and your gaining enlightenment is not far away.
