Buddha Expounds Amitabha Sutra is one of the very rare sutras that the Buddha elucidated spontaneously. Most of the time, the Buddha expounded teachings (later known as sutra) based on questions posed by his disciples or anyone. The Buddha Expounds Amitabha Sutra, which belongs to Mahayana Buddhism, is also one of the three fundamental classic of the Chinese Pure Land sect. The practice in the Pure Land sect is very simple, as long as one single-mindedly recites the holy name of Amitabha（or ah-mi-tall-fo), one can be reborn in the Western Amitabha land where one’s mind being unconsciously transition into an “awaken” mind state. This sutra was translated by Master Kumarajiva.
“Buddha Speaks Amitabha Sutra” explains the extraordinary scene of the Western Paradise of Ultimate Bliss where the Amitabha Buddha resides and how to practice the Amitabha Dharma to be reborn in the Western Amitabha land.
