In Mahayana Buddhism, The Medicine Buddha is widely revered because the Buddha is thought to relieve all suffering (both physical and mental) of living beings. The Medicine Buddha Sutra is commonly chanted and recited in Buddhist monasteries; the Medicine Buddha’s great 12 vows in the sutra are widely praised.
